Franklin Rhoda was an American reporter, philosopher, and topographer. He is known for taking part in several geological surveys, including the Hayden Survey in Colorado of 1874 and his 1875 scaling of Trinchera Peak in Fort Garland, Colorado. Rhoda's chronicling of the 1874 Hayden Survey has been considered one of the "best of the last century in American mountaineering", and parts of his account were published in the Pittsburgh Gazette. His half-brother was A.D.
