Gabor Peterdi was a Hungarian-American painter and print-maker (1915, Pestújhely, Hungary - 2001, Stamford, Connecticut). He emigrated to the United States in 1939 and before teaching print-making at Yale, he established and directed the Graphic Workshop at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. He was a major influence on younger American print-makers including Robert Bero and Danny Pierce. Chuck Close served as his assistant while working on his MFA at Yale from 1962 to 1964.
