George Albert Howes (5 January 1906 – 31 July 1993) was an English professional footballer who played as a right-half. Born in Jarrow, County Durham, he began his footballing career with his hometown club before joining Football League Second Division side Barnsley in the summer of 1928. He spent two seasons with the Yorkshire-based club but did not make a senior appearance for them.In May 1930, Howes moved to Third Division North outfit Nelson on a free transfer.
