rdfs:comment
Use of the flute in jazz was a considered a novelty in the early years of jazz music, with the first recordings appearing only in the late 1920s. With the help of developments in sound technology, the flute is now widely used in jazz ensembles and by soloists. The modern Boehm system transverse concert flute is commonly used in jazz playing; other members of the same family are used, such as the alto G flute. Ethnic and other flutes, such as bamboo flutes, have also been used in jazz.
