Michael Murphy VC (c. 1837, Cahir, County Tipperary, Ireland – 4 April 1893, Darlington, County Durham, England) was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.Murphy was born c. 1837 in Cahir, Tipperary to Michael Murphy, a local blacksmith, and his (unknown) wife.
