General Sir Miles Christopher Dempsey, GBE, KCB, DSO, MC (15 December 1896 – 5 June 1969) was a senior officer of the British Army who served in both the First World War and Second World War. During the Second World War he commanded XIII Corps for the invasions of Sicily and Italy and later the British Second Army during the Battle of Normandy and throughout the rest of the campaign in North-western Europe. Dempsey was a career infantryman who made his reputation in active service.
