Payne, more commonly known as Payne City, was a small city in Bibb County, Georgia, United States. It was an enclave completely surrounded by the city of Macon, and was the only other incorporated area in the county. The population was 218 at the 2010 census.Payne was originally a company town for a Bibb Manufacturing textile mill, founded in 1899. Though the mill is closed today, its former site houses several small businesses.
