Frank Shelton "Red" Perkins was a bandleader of one of the oldest Omaha-based territory bands, The Dixie Ramblers. Born in Muchakinock (a coal mining camp near Oskaloosa, Iowa) on December 26, 1890, Perkins' band was based in the city's Near North Side. National Orchestra Service booked his gigs. He died September 27, 1976 in Minneapolis.
