It can be found on sandy mud substrates at depths of from 30 to 200 metres (98 to 656 ft). This species grows to a length of 46 centimetres (18 in) TL though most are around 35 centimetres (14 in). The greatest recorded weight for this species is 1.3 kilograms (2.9 lb). It is a commercially important species.
