The Serbian Revolution refers to a period between 1804 and 1817, during in which the Serbs of the Ottoman Sanjak of Smederevo rose up against the Ottomans and transformed the province into the largely independent Principality of Serbia. The Revolution was made up of two main revolts: the First Serbian Uprising (1804–13) and the Second Serbian Uprising (1815).
