Shibu Soren (born 11 January 1944) is an Indian politician and who was Chief Minister of Jharkhand state in India from 2008 to 2009 and from 2009 to 2010. Soren was the first serving Union minister to be convicted for murder. He allegedly did so to cover up a case of corruption and sodomy. He was sworn in as the 3rd Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 30 December 2009 after winning the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
