Sohag (Arabic: سوهاج‎, Saidi pronunciation: [suːˈhaːdʒ] Sūhāǧ, Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [soˈhæːɡ] Sohāg), also known as Sawhāj, Suhag and Suhaj, is a city in Egypt that lies on the west bank of the Nile.
