Taapaca (a broken and hispanicized Quechua word), Tara Paka or Tarapaka (Quechua for Andean eagle) is part of the Nevados de Putre volcanic complex. It is a complex volcano located in Chile's XV region of Tarapaca, and towers over the picturesque town of Putre. Tarapaca was a ceremonial site for the Inca people and it is partially contained within the boundaries of Lauca National Park.
