As of 2004 it had a population of 9610.It was founded by an Islamic saint of the fourteenth century, named Brahim ben Yaakoub Sid Agareb \u0635\u064A\u062F (\u0623\u0633\u062F) \u0639\u0642\u0627\u0631\u0628.Agareb has a large industrial area which includes one of largest tile plants in Tunisia.
