It saw action as a convoy escort during the Battle of the Atlantic. She was named for the Poundmaker Cree Nation of Saskatchewan. After the war she was sold to Peru and renamed Teniente Ferr\u00E9 in 1947.Poundmaker was ordered on 1 February 1943 as part of the 1943\u20131944 River-class building program.
