"Khaled Mohamad al-Asaad (Arabic pronunciation: [\u0250l\u0294\u00E6s\u0295\u00E6d] Arabic: \u062E\u0627\u0644\u062F \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0633\u0639\u062F\u200E (1932 \u2013 18 August 2015), also Khaled Asaad, was a Syrian archaeologist and the head of antiquities for the ancient city of Palmyra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
