He was the second son of King P\u014Dmare II and his wife Queen Teri\u02BBito\u02BBoterai Teremoemoe. Sources differ on his relation to his sister with missionary sources citing them as half-siblings while later sources cited Teremoemoe as both of their mother.He was born at Papa\u02BBoa, \u02BBArue, 25 June 1820 as Teri\u02BBitari\u02BBa, and was baptised 10 September 1820."@en .
